I didn't think you could burn pine in an indoor fireplace, yet I have read it is safe to use pine cones as a fire starter. Is it really safe to burn pine cones indoors?

Burning pine creates a substance called creosote. The gummy residue from the sap sticks to your chimney flue liner and if you get enough, it can ignite and cause a chimney fire. But burning a pine cone or two should not be a huge problem. I have gas logs
